Try in vain to V (bare) : Cố gắng làm gì nhưng kh có kết quả. (Vd: The fox try in vain to reach the bunch of grapes)

Go to one 's head = make someone full of one' s self = make someone conceited: Làm ai đó kiêu ngạo

On the spot = immediately : Ngay lập tức

On the verge of = on the brink of = in the edge of: Trên bờ vực (VD: Elephants are on the verge of being extincted)
