Thì hiện tại đơn (Present simple tense)​

1. Khái niệm

Thì hiện tại đơn là một thì trong tiếng Anh hiện đại. Thì này diễn tả một hành động chung chung, tổng quát lặp đi lặp lại nhiều lần hoặc một sự thật hiển nhiên hoặc một hành động diễn ra trong thời gian hiện tại.

2. Công thức

• Khẳng định​

*Lưu ý: Cách chia động từ đuôi s/es cho danh từ số ít

- Từ kết thúc bằng "o", "s", "ch", "x", "sh", "z" (ông sáu chạy xe SH zởm) => thêm "es"

- Từ kết thúc bằng "y" => bỏ "y" thêm "ies"

- Từ còn lại => thêm "s"​

• Phủ định

*Lưu ý:

- Is not = isn't / are not = aren't

- Do not = don't / does not = doesn't

• Nghi vấn

3. Cách dùng

- Thói quen không đổi

- Lịch trình, thời khóa biểu

- Cảm xúc, mong muốn của ai đó

- Sự việc hay diễn ra

- Tình huống ổn định, lâu dài

- Trạng thái, tình trạng hiện nay

- Sự thật luôn luôn đúng

4. Dấu hiệu nhận biết

- Always, sometimes, usually..

- Once a week, twice a month..

- Once in a blue moon (idiom) = not very often

- To have one's moments = sometimes

- Like clockdown = always

5. Chú ý

- Thêm do/does trước động từ trong câu khẳng định => nhấn mạnh động từ.

- Dùng thì hiện tại đơn cho câu điều kiện loại 0 và đi với thì tương lai đơn cho câu điều kiện loại 1.

Exercise 2. Rewrite the verbs in the correct form:

One game I (1 - love).. is backgammon. You (2 - throw).. the dice and then you (3 - move).. your pieces around the board. It (4 - seem).. quite easy, but in fact you (5 - need).. to be quite careful. When your piece (6 - land).. on one of the person's pieces, you (7 - take).. it off the board and you (8 - send).. it back to the beginning. You (9 - win).. by getting all your pieces to the end and off the board. Some people (10 - prefer).. chess, but I (11 - not understand).. that game. Right now, I (12 - wait).. to have a game with my brother. He (13 - do).. his homework. I usually (14 - win).. so I think he (15 - not want).. to play a game with me.
