Công Chúa Tóc Dài​

Ngày xưa có một đôi vợ chồng nghèo sống ở một ngôi nhà nhỏ nhắn ven rừng. Một hôm người vợ thấy cạnh nhà có một giống hoa màu tím lạ, nên nài nỉ bắt ông chồng hái cho được bông hoa đấy.

Thương vợ người chồng leo qua tường hái bông hoa ấy. Nhưng người chồng không ngờ rằng đây là khu vườn của mụ phù thủy. Bà ta bắt gặp người chồng hái trộm nên ra điều kiện:

– Nếu ngươi chịu giao đứa con đầu lòng của ngươi cho ta, ta sẽ tha cho ngươi.

Quá sợ lời nguyền của mụ phù thủy nên người vợ đành chấp nhận lời đề nghị của mụ. Năm ấy người vợ hạ sinh một đứa con gái và vợ chồng họ đành giao đứa con gái đầu lòng của mình cho mụ ta.

Thời gian trôi qua cô bé càng lớn càng xinh đẹp nhất là bộ tóc dài vàng óng mượt. Sợ nàng trốn thoát mụ phù thủy đã đem nàng nhốt trên một ngọn tháp cổ rất cao. Mỗi khi về tới nhà mụ phù thủy lại gọi:

– Tóc dài! Tóc dài!

Thế là cô gái thả mái tóc xuống để mụ phù thủy leo lên. Ở trên tháp cổ một mình ngày nào cô gái tóc dài cũng cất cao tiếng hát để xua đi nỗi cô quạnh.

Một hôm có vị hoàng tử cưỡi ngựa đi ngang qua chợt nghe thấy tiếng hát của nàng. Chàng tò mò đến gần và thấy sự kiện lạ lùng khi thấy mụ phù thủy leo lên và leo xuống cái tháp bằng mái tóc dài của nàng.

Chờ mụ ta đi khuất chàng đến bên tháp bắt chước làm theo mụ phù thủy. Khi gặp được cô gái tóc dài, Hoàng tử cùng cô gái đàn ca vui vẻ họ trở nên thân thiết nhau hơn. Và chàng hẹn với cô gáihôm sau sẽ quay trở lại nữa.

Tối đến khi mụ phù thủy trở về nhà, cô gái đã thật thà kể lại hết câu chuyện cho mụ phù thủy nghe. Bà ta tức giận cắt mái tóc dài của cô gái cột vào cửa sổ. Rồi bà ta dắt cô gái bỏ vào rừng sâu.

Sáng hôm sau hoàng tử lại đến và leo lên tháp. Chàng gặp mụ phù thủy đứng bên cửa sổ và biết là mình đã bị lừa. Mụ phù thủy cười khoái trá và cắt mái tóc để hoàng tử rơi từ trên cao xuống. Nhưng rất may chàng lại rơi trên đống tóc dài mà mụ đã cắt đi. Còn mụ phù thủy lúc này mới nhận ra rằng mình không còn cách nào để leo xuống và bị nhốt trên tháp cao suốt cuộc đời.

Đến lúc này thì Hoàng tử chạy đi tìm cô gái ở khắp nơi, bất chợt nàng nghe văng vẳng tiếng hát của nàng ở mãi tận rừng sâu. Chàng vui mừng thúc ngựa chạy mau vào rừng và gặp lại cô gái.

Chàng vui mừng dẫn nàng về ra mắt vua cha và xin với vua cha được cưới cô gái tóc dài làm vợ. Từ đó họ sống bên nhau thật hạnh phúc. Và nàng cũng đã tìm lại được cha mẹ nghèo khó của mình nơi xa xôi sau bao năm xa cách.

The Long-Haired Princess​

Once upon a time, there was a poor couple who lived in a small house near the edge of a forest. One day, the wife noticed some unusual purple flowers growing beside their home. She liked them so much that she begged her husband to pick one for her.

Because he loved his wife dearly, the husband climbed over the wall to pick the flower. However, he did not know that the garden belonged to a witch. The witch caught him stealing the flower and gave him a frightening choice:

"If you agree to give me your firstborn child, I will spare you."

Terrified by the witch and her threats, the couple reluctantly agreed to her demand.

That year, the wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. With heavy hearts, the poor parents had no choice but to give their firstborn daughter to the witch.

As the years passed, the little girl grew into a beautiful young woman. Her most remarkable feature was her long, silky, golden hair.

Afraid that the girl might escape, the witch locked her away in a very tall old tower. Whenever the witch returned, she would stand below the tower and call:

"Long Hair! Long Hair!"

The girl would then let down her long golden hair so that the witch could climb up.

Living alone in the tower, the long-haired girl sang every day to drive away her loneliness.

One day, a prince happened to ride past the tower. Suddenly, he heard her beautiful singing. Curious, he came closer and witnessed something very strange: The witch was climbing up and down the tower using the girl's long hair.

The prince waited until the witch had gone. Then he walked to the foot of the tower and called out just as the witch had done.

The girl let down her hair, and the prince climbed up.

When they met, the prince and the long-haired girl talked, sang, and played music together. They quickly became close friends. Before leaving, the prince promised that he would return the next day.

That evening, when the witch came back, the innocent girl honestly told her everything that had happened.

The witch was furious.

In a fit of anger, she cut off the girl's long golden hair and tied it to the tower window. Then she took the girl deep into the forest and abandoned her there.

The next morning, the prince returned to the tower. He called out as usual, and the witch lowered the girl's severed hair.

The prince climbed up, expecting to see the long-haired girl. Instead, he found the witch waiting for him at the window.

He immediately realized that he had been tricked.

The witch laughed cruelly and cut the long hair from the window, causing the prince to fall from the high tower.

Fortunately, he landed on the great pile of soft hair that the witch had cut off, so he survived the fall.

The witch then suddenly realized that she had made a terrible mistake. Without the girl's long hair, there was no longer any way for her to climb down from the tower. And so, the cruel witch remained trapped in the high tower for the rest of her life.

Meanwhile, the prince set out to search for the long-haired girl. He travelled far and wide, looking everywhere for her.

Then, one day, while passing through a deep forest, he suddenly heard a familiar voice singing in the distance.

It was her!

Overjoyed, the prince urged his horse forward and hurried deep into the forest. At last, he found the long-haired girl again.

The prince happily took her back to his kingdom and introduced her to his father, the king. He asked for permission to marry her, and the king gladly agreed.

The prince and the long-haired princess were married and lived happily together ever after.

After many years of separation, the princess also managed to find her poor parents again in their distant home.

At last, the whole family was reunited, and they lived together in happiness and peace.
