Cuối cùng thì sau gần 2 tháng ròng rã chờ đợi, album phòng thu thứ 10 của cô nàng Taylor Swift - Midnights đã chính thức ra mắt vào ngày 21.10.2022. "Vigilante shit" chính là track thứ 8 nằm trong album này. Và điều đặc biệt nhát của bài hát này là trong tất cả 13 bài hát mà cô nàng cho ra mắt, chỉ có đúng track này là track do chính tự tay cô nàng chắp bút. Đặc biệt hơn cả, đây cũng lại là bài hát duy nhất trong sự nghiệp ca nhạc của cô nàng có từ chửi là tiêu đề bài hát (nếu không tính từ damn vì từ này quá nhẹ).
