Ca khúc được giới thiệu lần đầu tiên vào tháng 10 năm 2022 và bài hát nhanh chóng nhận được sự yêu thích từ người hâm mộ. Ban đầu nhiều người dự đoán ca khúc sẽ nằm trong EP mới của nhóm mang tên "me, myself & i" nhưng cuối cùng lại bị loại bỏ khỏi dự án, và rồi "Piña Colada" đã được phát hành như một single vào ngày 18 tháng 8 năm 2023.
