Track nhạc thứ 4 "airplane thoughts" thuộc thể loại Pop nhẹ nhàng, bài hát nói về cảm giác xa cách người mình yêu và những cảm xúc khác nhau xuất hiện trong chuyến bay dài. Bài hát bắt đầu bằng lời nam ca sĩ thừa nhận rằng anh đã nghĩ về người mình yêu khi ở trên máy bay, và tâm trí anh hướng về bầu trời và tràn ngập những suy nghĩ về người đó. Anh cảm thấy thất vọng và bất lực khi không thể ngừng suy nghĩ về người đó, phần nào thể hiện sự ngọt ngào và đắng cay, cũng như sự phức tạp của việc chia ly và nhớ nhung một ai đó trong khi ở xa họ về mặt thể xác.

Thông qua tạp chí âm nhạc Clash, anh chia sẻ về ca khúc như sau: "Bài hát nói về việc tạm biệt một người mình yêu, mà không biết khi nào mới gặp lại. Về cơ bản, bài hát là một dòng ý thức, nơi tôi ôn lại những kỷ niệm về mối quan hệ này và thảo luận về những lo lắng của mình trong tương lai."
