"Chasing Shadows" là đĩa đơn mở đường cho EP đầu tay của Alex Warren mang tên "You'll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1)", ca khúc này cùng những ca khúc khác trong EP sau đó đã được thêm vào album phòng thu đầu tay của anh vừa được phát hành vào tháng 7/2025. Với thể loại Pop đầy cảm xúc, bài hát là một cuộc khám phá chân thành về nỗi nhớ nhung, đau buồn và nỗ lực giữ gìn ký ức về người thân yêu giữa nỗi đau mất mát.
Chia sẻ với tờ Prelude Press về ca khúc, anh cho biết:" "Chasing Shadows cực kỳ đặc biệt vì đây là bài hát đầu tiên tôi viết khiến tôi khóc. Lớn lên mà không có cha mẹ, mọi người luôn nói với tôi rằng họ đang ở một nơi tốt hơn và họ sẽ tự hào về tôi, vì con người tôi đã trở thành, nhưng điều đó không bao giờ khiến tôi thấy thoải mái, vì tôi chỉ cảm thấy như mình đang đuổi theo cái bóng của thứ mà tôi không bao giờ có thể có được - sự chấp thuận của cha mẹ tôi. Mà thật kỳ lạ, tôi đã có cảm hứng viết" Chasing Shadows "sau khi nhìn thấy chú chó Koda của mình đuổi theo một cái bóng, khóc lóc và rên rỉ vì thực tế là nó không thể chạm tới. Cách nó đuổi theo những cái bóng khiến tôi nhớ đến việc chạy theo sự chấp thuận của cha mẹ mình, đó là cảm giác mà bạn có sau khi mất đi một người và nhận ra rằng bạn sẽ không bao giờ có thể ở bên họ nữa."
