Dự án này đã được anh chàng lên kế hoạch từ trước, nhưng đã bị dời lịch vì nhiều lí đo cho đến tận bây giờ.

Nội dung chính của "teenage nightmare" là về những thách thức của tuổi trẻ, cũng như nhận ra rằng khoảng cách giữa giấc mơ và thực tế hoàn toàn xa vời. Bài hát như một lời nhắc nhở rằng mặc dù tuổi thanh thiếu niên có thể đầy rẫy những khó khăn, thế nhưng những trải nghiệm này lại sẽ nuôi dưỡng tâm hồn ta và cho ta thêm sức mạnh bước tiếp trên chặng đường tương lai sắp tới.
