Với giai điệu dance pop kết hợp synthpop đầy cuốn hút và mơ màng, "SOS" nói lên mong muốn được đối phương thấu hiểu và đồng cảm. Nhân vật chính mong cầu sự giúp đỡ về mặt cảm xúc cũng như sự gắn kết thân mật từ người thương, khi mối quan hệ của cả hai đang bị cản trở bởi khoảng cách.

"SOS" đóng vai trò là ca khúc chủ đề nằm trong mini album thứ hai "LOVE TUNE", đánh dấu sự "tái sinh" của nhóm nhạc nữ Hàn Quốc Fifty Fifty . Mini album bao gồm năm track nhạc, ra mắt vào ngày 20 tháng 9 năm 2024. Một MV chính thức mang màu sắc huyền ảo cho "SOS" cũng được ra mắt cùng lúc, các thành viên bắt đầu một cuộc hành trình với bối cảnh cổ tích đẹp như tranh vẽ. Bài hát còn bao gồm phiên bản tiếng Anh, nằm vị trí thứ năm trong mini album.

Các thành viên cũ gồm Saena cùng với Sio và Aran đã đệ đơn chấm dứt hợp đồng độc quyền với ATTRAKT, tạo nên một vụ kiện ồn ào trong giới giải trí Hàn Quốc vào tháng 6 năm 2023. Sau đó, cùng với Keena - người đã quyết định từ bỏ vụ kiện và quay trở lại công ty, các thành viên mới (bao gồm Chanelle, Yewon, Hana và Athena) đã tạo nên đội hình 5 thành viên mới cho FIFTY FIFTY.
