Mới đây, sau màn thông báo bất ngờ về một chiế album phòng thu mới sắp sửa cho ra mắt, cuối cùng thì vào ngày 29.9. 2023, chàng nhạc sĩ người Anh Ed Sheeran đã cho ra mắt album phòng thu thứ 8 mang tên "Autumn variations". Đây là chiếc album gồm 14 ca khúc được anh chàng lấy cảm hứng chủ đạo là mùa thu, thế nên mới có cái tên album như hiện tại. "Punchline" là bài hát thứ 11 nằm trong 14 track của album phòng thu này. Và có lẽ đây là ca khúc mà mình thấy là hay nhất trong album này, bởi chất liệu story telling mới mẻ trên nền nhạc guitar rock. Có thể thấy qua chiếc album này, anh chàng ngày càng cho thấy khả năng sáng tác của anh ngày 1 lên trình khi mà các ca khúc trong chiếc album này đều là story-telling, có lẽ phần lớn ảnh hưởng bởi cách viết nhạc của người bạn thân là Taylor Swift.
