Nhân vật chính nhận thấy rằng người bạn đời của mình đã thay đổi và cảm nhận rõ sự xa cách giữa họ. Bất chấp trực giác mách bảo rằng đã quá muộn để cứu vãn mối quan hệ này, anh vẫn muốn khiến đối phương yêu mình thêm một lần nữa. Tựa đề "Match In The Rain" là ẩn dụ cho sự khó khăn trong việc nhen nhóm lại ngọn lửa tình yêu trong những hoàn cảnh không hề thuận lợi, giống như việc thắp một que diêm dưới bầu trời mưa nặng hạt vậy! Ca khúc là track nhạc thứ năm nằm trong album phòng thu đầu tay của nam nghệ sĩ Alec Benjamin mang tên "These Two Windows", bao gồm 10 track nhạc và được lên kệ chính thức vào cùng ngày.
