Vào ngày 13/03/2026, Holly Humberstone chính thức phát hành "Cruel World" – đĩa đơn thứ 3 trích từ album phòng thu thứ hai cùng tên (được ra mắt vào ngày 10/04/2026). Là track thứ 4 trong tổng số 12 ca khúc của dự án, bài hát mang âm hưởng Indie/Alternative Pop pha Synthpop bắt tai và đậm chất hoài niệm.
Tác phẩm khắc họa cảm giác trống rỗng và ngột ngạt khi nhân vật chính đứng giữa một buổi tiệc nhộn nhịp. Bị bủa vây bởi ánh đèn và sự thân mật của những người xung quanh, cô rơi vào trạng thái cô lập, liên tục hoài niệm và khao khát sự trở lại của người mình yêu. Sự đối lập gay gắt giữa bầu không khí sôi động bên ngoài và nỗi khao khát níu kéo bên trong khiến cô thấy thế giới xung quanh trở nên tàn nhẫn, biến không gian giải trí thành lời nhắc nhở cay đắng về khoảng trống không thể lấp đầy.
