"Current Affairs" dường như đang nói về một mối quan hệ độc hại, mà gần như chắc chắn rằng nó sẽ kết thúc ngay từ lúc bắt đầu. Thế nhưng nhân vật chính vẫn từ chối việc chấp nhận sự thật đó. Từ đó mà bài hát đã khai thác một khía cạnh đen tối và vô cùng phức tạp của tình yêu đôi lứa.

"Current Affairs" là track nhạc năm trích từ "Virgin" - album phòng thu thứ tư của nữ nghệ sĩ Lorde, ra mắt vào ngày 26 tháng 6 năm 2025. Visualizer chính thức cho bài hát có mặt trên nền tảng Youtube vào ngày 30 tháng 6 năm 2025 sau đó. Thuộc thể loại alternative pop kết hợp art pop, track nhạc này còn chứa sample từ bài hát "Morning Love" của nam nghệ sĩ người Jamaica Dexta Daps.
