Where is a better place for children to grow up, the countryside or the big city? The answer to this question differs from individual to individual. As far as I am concerned, it is better for children to grow up in a big city.

To begin with, a city means more chance to receive better education. It is no doubt that in most cities the level of education is higher than that of the countryside. Students in cities are competing to each other for being the first in eveything. As a result, children can meet better teachers and receive high quality of education.

In addition, living in the city can broaden children's horizons. They can meet a lot of people and hear a lot of things that will never happen in the countryside. A child growing up in the city has a lot of interesting and exciting places to visit. He can go to the zoo, museum, art galleries and concerts. There are a lot of restaurants with diffferent kinds of cuisines. It is easy to watch new movies that come out. Whereas children in the country don't have a lot of these activities.

Another reason is that children in the city can also develop many hobbies. They can learn to play the piano, guitar or take a course of painting, dancing, singing which are impossible when living in the countryside. Consequently they can develop their talents in many ways. Moreover people in the city can enjoy the better living conditions, the improved medical treatment and modern transportation. How could you enjoy these things when living in the countryside?

Some people argue that the countyside is an ideal place for children to grow up due to several reasons. For one thing, it is less polluted than the city. Rural areas bring us the peace and comfort, which is beneficial to our health and helps us avoid the noise from vehicles such as motorbikes or cars. For another one, only the countryside can offer children a big playground. They can run everywhere, play games in the field, swim in the river. Personally I still believe that growing up in a big city is better for children. Living in the countryside, for instance, in small towns or villages may prevent children from fitting into the modern society.

In conclusion, I disagree with the point of view that letting children grow up in the countryside. Growing up in the city children can not only broaden their horizons but also receive better education and enjoy modern living conditon.
